The Monkey and the Kitten: Two Ways to Be
The Monkey and the Kitten: Two Ways to Be
A monkey clings, with all its might,
To its mother’s fur, day and night.
Through leaps and bounds, it holds on tight,
A testament to its determined fight.
The kitten, small, with a helpless mew,
Is carried by the cat, steady and true.
No effort it makes, no fear to accrue,
Trusting its mother to see it through.
Both paths, distinct, yet each profound,
In the lessons of life and faith they’re found.
One grips hard, through toil and strain,
The other surrenders, free of pain.
The monkey’s way, of effort and zeal,
Teaches us strength, and the will to heal.
It shows the path of striving and care,
Holding on tight through life’s rough air.
The kitten’s way, of letting go,
Speaks of trust in the divine flow.
It whispers softly, “Let God take lead,
For He knows best what you truly need.”
But is one better, the other less?
Both are paths to holiness.
For effort and trust, like day and night,
Together bring the soul to light.
When trials come, as they often do,
The monkey shows what strength can do.
And when we’re lost, too weak to fight,
The kitten reminds: trust feels right.
So whether you cling, or let life steer,
Both are ways to face what’s here.
The monkey and kitten, in balance reside,
Two ways of faith, standing side by side.
