The Price of a Wish

The Price of a Wish

In the heart of the forest, deep and still,
There stood a tree of ancient will.
Its branches stretched to the heavens high,
A Wish Fulfilling Tree beneath the sky.

A man once wandered, weary and lost,
And found this tree, where fate was tossed.
Unaware of its celestial grace,
He sought respite in its shaded embrace.

“Hunger bites,” he thought with despair,
“Bring me food!”—and it appeared right there.
Amazed, he ate, his hunger eased,
Yet his thoughts grew restless, far from pleased.

“If only,” he mused, “a chair were near,
To rest my back and soothe my fear.”
Lo! A chair emerged, so fine and grand,
Summoned to life by his own command.

But soon his mind began to race,
His joy now clouded, his heart displaced.
“What if,” he wondered, “a tiger should prowl,
And find me here with a savage growl?”

As soon as he thought, the beast appeared,
With blazing eyes and fangs to fear.
The man, in folly, had sealed his fate,
For careless wishes invite cruel weight.

The Tree, so kind yet stern,
Taught him a lesson few ever learn:
The power to wish is no trifling art,
It demands a clear and discerning heart.

For the tree grants dreams, profound and true,
To those who know what they pursue.
But woe to the hearts that wish in haste,
For fleeting whims breed bitter taste.

A careless thought, a reckless plea,
Can twist the gift to misery.
Its roots are deep, its power vast,
Yet wisdom guides the spell it casts.

For those who ask with minds astray,
Shadows rise to cloud their way.
Desires unchecked, like storms untamed,
Bring ruin where blessings were once proclaimed.

So sit not beneath its sacred shade,
Unless your purpose is clearly laid.
For the tree's grace, though pure and kind,
Rewards only the sharpest mind.

A wish unwise, a thought unclear,
Will summon chaos, doubt, and fear.
To dream, discern; to ask, beware—
The tree reflects what’s truly there.
